Is it wrong for Christians to talk to angels directly?

I recently came across a discussion in a Christian forum that really unsettled me. The members held two very strict views. They said believers should never try to speak directly to angels, as all prayer must go only to God. They also warned that any attempt to contact an angel could actually invite demonic deception, putting your soul at risk.

Reading this left me feeling quite confused and disappointed. I’ve always held a more personal view of angelic presence, and these ideas felt overly restrictive and fear-based. It’s created a real conflict for me.

I’d love to hear somebody tell me those two points are rubbish! Has anyone else wrestled with this? I’m genuinely seeking other perspectives or experiences that might offer a different, more comforting view.

Regarding what was mentioned earlier, I think you should feel free to reach out to your angels whenever you feel the need. It’s not about having a “right” or a permission slip; the notion of risking something serious simply doesn’t apply here. Many traditions and belief systems are riddled with anxieties and prohibitions, yet that shouldn’t stop you from having a sincere conversation with the celestial beings you trust. In my view, following that intuition is perfectly fine, and it’s a personal choice worth embracing.

Thank you, MH—does anyone else notice this? Apparently some claim we become bad Christians simply for speaking with our angels. I had never heard that idea before I visited that page, and it surprised me. It seems odd to label such a conversation as sinful.
